1. Who is responsible

The data controller for this website within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Popper is currently an early prototype operated by a private individual for the purpose of testing an idea. It is not a commercial service.

2. What data is collected

When you use Popper, the following data may be processed:

a) Usage events (anonymous). We store anonymous usage events: which cards you viewed, quiz answers, time spent, and a randomly generated session ID kept in your browser's local storage. These events contain no name, email, or other directly identifying information.

b) Waitlist sign-up (voluntary). If you choose to leave your email address, we store that email address together with any feedback text you write, your session ID, and the number of concepts you had seen.

c) Technical data. Our hosting providers automatically process standard server log data (such as IP address, browser type, and time of access) as technically necessary to deliver the site securely.

3. Why and on what legal basis

Usage events are processed to understand whether and how the prototype is used and to improve it — this is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Your email address and feedback are processed on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), solely to contact you about this project when it launches. Technical log data is processed out of legitimate interest in secure operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Who receives your data

Data is stored using Lovable Cloud (built on Supabase) and the site is hosted by Lovable. These providers act as data processors on our behalf and may process data on servers in the United States or other countries outside the EU; where this happens, it relies on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. Your email address is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for their own purposes.

5. How long data is kept

Anonymous usage events are kept for the duration of this prototype evaluation. Waitlist emails are kept until the project launches, until you request deletion, or until the prototype is discontinued — whichever comes first.

6. Local storage

Popper uses your browser's local storage to remember your session ID, XP progress, and whether you have dismissed the feedback popup. No advertising cookies or cross-site tracking are used.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. To exercise any of these rights — including deleting your email from the waitlist — simply write to julian.praesent@gmail.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Austria this is the Datenschutzbehörde (DSB), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna.

8. Liability for content

Popper summarises published scientific research for general education. Summaries are simplified and do not constitute medical, psychological, or other professional advice. Although the content is prepared with care, no guarantee is given for completeness or accuracy. External links (e.g. to original papers) lead to third-party sites for whose content their operators are solely responsible.
